LOS ANGELES, CA – A man and a woman were killed while two others were injured Thursday morning when a pickup truck smashed into a non-starting vehicle on the westbound 10 highway near Mid-City. This information comes via local authorities.

The fatality causing accident occurred around 4:20 a.m. right around the Washington Boulevard off-ramp. In fact, the California Highway Patrol had closed the ramp for several hours along with three lanes of traffic. One lane still remained closed just before 8 a.m.

The driver of the pickup, a 46-year-old, was raced to the hospital, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. There have been no reports on the status of his condition.

Another unidentified person had minor injuries. They declined to be sent to a medical center for further examination. This person and the two people who died were inside a stalled Nissan Altima when the pickup slammed into them from behind in the number three lane. This information comes courtesy of a CHP spokesperson.

Authorities say that one of the deceased passengers was ejected from the car. Both victims were declared dead at the scene and no names were provided. Authorities only offered that they were both in their 40s.

The wreckage from the incident was equally devastating. When the authorities arrived, they found the pickup overturned and on its side while the Nissan was nearly destroyed.

Initially, westbound traffic was at a crawl as firefighters and CHP officers busied themselves with clearing the scene.
