Cadillac Lyriq is being celebrated by GM President Mark Reuss. It is with the electric crossover coming off the line at the Spring Hill Manufacturing plant. Moreover, the facility, which is wholly devoted to the Saturn brand from the beginning operations in 1990 to 2007. In fact, it has built the Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia crossovers of late.

Cadillac Lyriq – Ultium-Based Products

GM is investing $2 billion to convert the Tennessee plant to a battery-electric vehicle assembly. It happened a little more than a year ago. In fact, the Cadillac Lyriq is not only the first of a number of Ultium-based products to come from there. Also, Reuss said the CUV is nine months ahead of schedule. Also, thus entering the portal for customer deliveries “in a few months.”

The third GM product that utilizes the new Ultium platform is the Lyriq Debut Edition. It is right after the Bright Drop electric delivery van and the electric GMC Hummer. Also, the limited-edition Lyriq launch model did sell out in just over 10 minutes. This was last September when the reservations did open. Although, we are not sure how many units Cadillac did put up for sale. Though it is possible we will find out when the keys do start getting handed over. In fact, the customers are going to be taking delivery of a cool, wagon-y vehicle. It is powered by a 100-kilowatt battery. It will juice a single motor that turns the rear wheels. Moreover, the output is estimated at 340 horsepower plus 325 pound-feet of torque. The claimed range is 300 miles on a charge.

GM is going to open an order for series production Lyriqs in the rear- and all-wheel drive. This will happen at some point after those deliveries do begin. In fact, the base price is going to be $59,990 for the entry-level model. It has been pointed out it is going to position the Lyriq in the same bracket as the entry-level Tesla Model Y Long Range which does start at $58,990.
