Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Cost & Payment
How do I pay for my auto transport services?
You won’t have to pay the total cost upfront! To lock in your reservation with AMPM Auto Transport, you will be required to pay a portion of the total payment via credit card. Your remaining balance will be owed to your truck driver upon the completion of delivery. The remaining balance can be paid in either Cash, Cashiers Check, or Money Order.
How much does it cost to ship a car with AMPM?
At AMPM, we customize each shipment to the individual customer’s needs. This means that the total cost of shipment will depend on specific factors of your vehicle. This might include the size, make, model, year, and condition of your vehicle, along with the location of the shipment and the place of origin. Weather conditions and other seasonal factors also might affect the cost.
When it comes to specific pricing, the quote we provide will depend on a variety of factors. However, our price-beat guarantee ensures that you receive a fair price for our services. If you receive a cheaper quote, bring it to us and we’ll do everything in our power to match it. Just contact one of our agents to learn more and receive a quote that works for you!
What is the most affordable method to transport a car with AMPM?
Our cheapest method of shipping a vehicle is with our Open Car Transport service. However, we also offer Enclosed Car Transport which will include an additional fee. This costs a bit more but provides an extra layer of security.
The price of shipping will also depend on the area of the shipment, as well as the weather and traffic conditions along the way. For example, it is cheaper to ship your vehicle to more populated areas. Delivering vehicles to remote locations requires more time and fuel. Naturally this will raise the price. Talk to our representatives about your concerns and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Insurance & Personal Items
Am I able to ship personal items with my car?
Yes. 100 lbs of extra space is allotted in your car for personal items, without any additional charges. However, if the items you intend to include exceed 100 lbs, speak to one of our representatives to determine how it might impact the price of the shipment.
Is my vehicle insured during transport?
Definitely! Your vehicle will be insured during the entire shipment process, so there is no need to worry about possible damages.
Are personal items in the car insured?
No. Our insurance policy strictly covers the vehicle. It will not include any personal items you’ve added. Consequently, this means that our drivers are not responsible for any damages to personal items. Take caution when leaving any personal items in the car.
Is my insurance or the driver’s insurance responsible for any damage?
AMPM Auto Transport insures your vehicle during transportation. So don’t worry, you can rest easy knowing your car is in safe hands.
What if my vehicle does somehow get damaged?
We recommend all customers inspect their vehicle with the driver prior to any transportation. This way both parties are on the same page regarding existing damage. In the unlikely event of damages incurred in route, update the Bill of Lading/Vehicle Conditional Report. This will then be claimed from the insurance.
What type of insurance is my vehicle covered with during transport?
AMPM’s Auto Transport carrier insurance covers $1,000,000 in liability and $250,000 for cargo.
Pickup & Delivery
What do I do before shipping my vehicle with AMPM?
Before shipping, we recommend inspecting your vehicle for any and all prior damages. These must be noted for insurance purposes. For the full list of our tips for preparing for the shipping process, check out our step-by-step guide.
How does it work to ship a car out of state?
The transportation process is different for each individual case. You might want to drop your vehicle off at our lot. Or, you may want us to come pick it up, which we can do. It’s best to ask a representative which is right for you.
Can there be a guaranteed pickup or delivery date/time?
No. The time frame we give is an estimate, but not a guarantee. While additional costs apply, we do offer expedited shipping services to get your car picked up by a driver faster. Just speak to a live agent to figure out what option works best for you.
How long does it take to ship a vehicle?
Delivery times depend on the distance being covered and the weather/road conditions during travel. Here are some usual delivery time windows:
In-State Delivery: 1-3 Days.
Up to 1000 Miles: 3-5 Days.
1000-1250 Miles: 4-5 Days.
1250-2000 Miles: 6-8 Days.
2000-3000 Miles: 7-9 Days.
3000 Miles and Above: 9-11 Days.
Do I have to be at the pickup or delivery?
For both pickup and delivery, you or a representative on your behalf must be present. This way someone is present to inspect the vehicle and update the Bill of Lading accordingly.
What is the Bill of Lading?
A Bill of Landing (or BOL) is a legal document which contains important information about the shipment.
The Bill of Lading will contain the year, make, model, and condition of your vehicle. The Bill of Lading serves as the contract between the truck driver and the vehicle owner. Any and all damages to the vehicle must be reported on the Bill of Lading. The Bill of Lading also acts as the receipt of the transaction.
Types of Car Shipping Services
What is Door-to-Door Auto Transport?
Door-to-Door Auto Transport allows our drivers to pick up your vehicle directly from your home, offering maximum convenience. From there, they can take it to your preferred destination.
How do I track my vehicle while it’s in route?
To track your vehicle you may contact one of our dispatch agents, or call the truck driver directly. Before your vehicle is transported, you’ll receive the driver’s phone number. Open Car Transport is the most common form of vehicle transportation, as well as the least expensive. While it is cheaper, the car will also be exposed to rain, sun, dust, and other natural weather conditions.
Our Enclosed Car Transport method provides extra protection, but is a bit more expensive. Generally, this option is selected for rare or luxury vehicles.
